Sandhole Oak Barn
near Congleton, Cheshire
An exclusive-use lakeside oak barn in 400 acres of Cheshire countryside.
Sandhole Oak Barn is an exclusive-use barn venue set beside a lake within around 400 acres of Cheshire countryside, near Congleton. It pairs the warmth of a traditional oak barn with calm, neutral interiors and a genuinely beautiful lakeside setting for outdoor ceremonies.
A traditional oak barn
Indoor ceremonies take place in a striking oak barn with oak flooring and full-height windows that look out over the lake, with a grand piano set for music as you arrive. The décor is deliberately elegant and neutral, lit by wrought-iron chandeliers and wall lights crafted by a local blacksmith, which gives the space a rustic but refined character.
Lakeside ceremonies
From April to October, couples can marry outdoors beneath the oak-framed Clock Tower beside the lake — one of the venue's signature settings. Whether indoors or out, the ceremony seats up to around 140 guests, with the dining barn hosting roughly 40 to 140 by day and up to 180 in the evening.
Exclusive use and a lakeside setting
The venue is yours exclusively, set amongst 400 acres of quiet countryside around its lake. That space and seclusion make for an unhurried celebration and give a natural rhythm to the day, from ceremony to evening.
Stay over
Sandhole offers on-site accommodation for up to around 40 guests, including a honeymoon cottage and a bridal suite — so getting ready on the morning and winding down at the end of the night both happen just steps from the celebration.
